FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY

Gina Brooks, ACMHC

Hi! I grew up in Utah, we lived in Las Vegas for 5 years, then recently moved back to be closer to family. I’ve been married for 21 years, have two kids, and two dogs. I grew up LDS and no longer identify, so I understand the cultural aspects of the church. I have family members who are still members, and I respect the church. If someone is looking for an active member, I’m probably not the person for them. However, I also think that having someone from a different background can help people view things from a different perspective.

I’ve always been a naturally curious person, so I’m interested in why someone does something, thinks something, or believes something. I believe most of our faulty beliefs stem from childhood trauma, and as an adaptation, we internalize these beliefs to be able to navigate our world and get our needs met. As adults, these unconscious beliefs no longer serve us, so uncovering their roots and creating new ones can lead to lasting changes. I am passionate about helping people understand themselves and how their thoughts, feelings, and habits reinforce their behavior. I enjoy working with trauma survivors, relationship issues, finding purpose, maternal mental health, and life transitions.

I completed Brainspotting Phase I and II, and I enjoy the somatic aspect of healing through this modality. It has personally been the most significant source of healing on my journey, and I hope Brainspotting can become more mainstream. I strive to create a safe environment where my clients feel truly seen and heard. I strive to tailor the therapy space to each individual’s needs. I enjoy working primarily with adults and teens.

I would prefer the youngest to work with to be 13. I have worked with those dealing with depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, trauma (sexual and physical abuse), panic disorder, grief, role transitions, self-esteem issues, family conflict, infidelity, relationship issues, divorce, and communication issues. I enjoy working with clients who are ready for deeper insight and change, but are unsure of where to start. I enjoy helping people explore their thoughts and emotions, challenging them to think in different ways and view things from new perspectives. I provide a gentle trauma-informed approach that fosters growth and self-discovery.
