Some background about me: I’ve been a social worker for all of my adult life. I worked for the state of Utah for 35 years as an administrator and program manager, but I also had lots of opportunity over the years, almost daily, to sit with people in their homes and hear their stories and challenges. I finished my grad school work in 2022, retired from working for the state, yay! and went to work as a therapist.

I enjoy working with adults of any age, gender, culture, orientation, etc. I love using EMDR in my work and am progressing toward certification this year. Because I’m trained in EMDR I find that I’m often working with people who’ve been traumatized and am passionate about that focus. I also love polyvagal theory and attachment theory and use those in combination with EMDR to help people learn to soothe their hypervigilance and anxious states. I like to look at depression and anxiety through those lenses and find that can be helpful for people to begin to work in partnership with their bodies to improve their mental health.

I really do feel lucky to be in a position to be able to get to know people and their stories. I feel strongly that just about anyone can benefit from being more compassionate with themselves and from developing self acceptance and self respect, as well as skills for emotional regulation, so those are foundational approaches I use with all clients.
